Timaru turns it on for Chip Training!

posted in: General | 0

Chip enthusiasts from all over Timaru and surrounding areas were treated to a Chip Group Training Session at Aoraki Polytechnic. With a range of attendees from students, to young part time workers right through to established and even award-winning chip shop owners!

A total of 27 were taken through the training and will receive their 2014 Chip Group Training Certificate, from six different shops throughout the region. Kate in Timaru copy

Local Chip Champions Rene Bullock and Beverley Knowles from The Naked Chip in Waimate inspired guests with tips and techniques from their experience as Southland Regional Winners in the 2013 Best Chip Shop Competition!

Attendees were engaged and there were some great questions, debates and ideas being shared within the session.

Having a variety of operators and workers together in a room like this is a hugely valuable experience and everyone left with at least one new piece of information to take back to their store.

A big thanks goes to Marthy Cloake, the local Heart Health Advocate from the South Canterbury Heart Foundation Branch – she did a great job explaining about the importance of heart health and the impact high fat chips can have on our community.

Congratulations for the following shops who were represented:

Fast Food Factory

Morgan’s Road Fish and Chips
