Chip Operators from Tokoroa were treated to a Training Seminar where they learnt how to cook BETTER CHIPS
and improve their business. Seven businesses from all over Tokoroa attended the training, run by Training and
Education Manager, Kate Underwood and Champion Chippie, Michael Huang.
Michael Huang was able to share his knowledge about what it takes to grow a successful takeaway business, with his Award-Winning store, Oppies Takeaways in Rotorua.
There was plenty of learning and discussion about temperature, oil type, cleanliness and tips about how to save money while still producing a quality product. Michael’s ability to speak both Mandarin and Cantonese meant that all operators were able to communicate, understand and ask questions.
The session was held at the Raukawa Charitable Trust Centre and co-ordinated by local Health Promoter, KC Maaka.
A big Congratulations to the following Tokoroa Businesses:
- Lomond Takeaway
- Double Happy Takeaway
- Aotea Takeaway
- Kelso Takeaway
- Balmoral Takeaway

- Sweet Rose Cafe
Thank you must go to KC and the other Raukawa staff for hosting the training and Michael for making the drive from Rotorua.
